International Women's Day Celebration

Good Shepherd Health Education Centre & Dispensary, Karamadai and Rotary Club Texcity, Coimbatore celebrated International Women’s Day Celebration on 17.03.2015 at Sree Raviram Kalyana Mandapam in Karamadai. In total, around 2500 women participated at the function. There was a procession held from GSHEC to Raviram Kalyana Mandapam.
              Mr.Ralf Tepel, the Executive Director of Karl Kubel Stiftung, Germany, was the Chief Guest for the function. Dr. K. Vasantha, head of the department of Avinashilingam Deemed University, was the guest of honour. She appreciated the efforts of GSHEC in developing the women folk. Rtn. Maruti(Properitor Samba publication), President Rotary Club of Coimbatore Texcity and his team participated in the function.

The Rotary club of Coimbatore Texcity awarded the “Vocational Excellence Award” to Mr. Ralf Tepel for his 17 years of service to the poor in Karamadai, Mettupalayam, Periyanaickenpalayam and Valparai, which made remarkable changes in the life situation of the people. Samasariya foundation, Chennai Trustee Mrs. Sandhya Jayakrishnan w/o Chennai High Court Judge Mr. Jayachandran distributed library books to 10 Village Schools. Dr. Karpagam Murali, Obstetrician and Gynecologist of GKNM Hospital Coimbatore, gave an awareness class on Dengue fever and swine flu. Karl Kubel Foundation, Mankarai project Coordinating officer Mrs. Jayalakshimi, Mrs. Manula Pastore from Germany, Rev. Fr. Jaju Elamkunnapuzha, parish priest, St. Joseph Church Mettupalayam, Mr.Seeniraj Agriculture Officer, Periyanaickenpalayam felicitated the function .


 Volunteers from Germany who take part at the bridge builders programme were also a vital presence in the function. “Best Entrepreneurship Awards” were given to the best women entrepreneurs. In addition, awards were distributed to the best leaders and the best SHG’s. GSHEC director Sr. Anila Mathew was honoured for receiving the "Vocational Excellence Award" by Rotary Club of Coimbatore Texcity and Bharata Seva Ratna Award by Bannari Educational Trust, Gopichettipalayam. There were exhibition stalls by Self Help Groups from the Villages. 2500 women participated in the programme. Afterwards a Cultural programme was organized by the women.
